Privacy Policy

Puzzle a Day ("we", "us") is a small puzzle site run by The Puzzle Agenda. This page explains what we collect, why, and what your choices are. We try to keep it short and honest.
What we collect
If you use the site without an account, we collect almost nothing personal — just standard server logs and anonymous page-view analytics (see "Third parties" below).
If you create an account or sign in with Google, we store:
- Your email address.
- If you sign in with Google: your name and profile picture, as provided by Google.
- An optional display name you set yourself.
- Your puzzle progress: which puzzles you've solved, your current and longest streaks, and similar gameplay state.
We also temporarily process your IP address in server memory to rate-limit login attempts and puzzle submissions. We do not store IPs in our database.
Why we collect it
- Email and account info — so you can sign in and recover your account.
- Puzzle progress and streaks — so the game works as intended across devices.
- IP rate limiting — to protect the site from abuse.
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with third parties for marketing.
Third parties
We rely on a few services to run the site. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Supabase — handles authentication and stores your account and puzzle data. Supabase privacy policy
- Google — if you choose "Sign in with Google", Google handles the sign-in and shares your basic profile info with us. Google privacy policy
- Vercel — hosts the site and provides anonymous, cookie-less page-view analytics. Vercel privacy policy
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to work — for example, to remember that you're signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep your data
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete your account record and your puzzle progress.
Your choices
- You can request a copy of the data tied to your account.
- You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time.
- You can stop using the site at any time — no account is required to play the daily puzzle.
To make any of these requests, email us at thepuzzleagenda@gmail.com.
Children
Puzzle a Day is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes affecting signed-in users will be communicated by email where reasonable.
